Cerebral palsy neuromuscular dysfunction
that accurs in early childhood as a result of damage of the centeral
nervous system prior to birth, at the momentof birth of after birth and
that shows itself via physical disability.
Pysical disability as muscle hypertonicity (spasticity) muscle hypotonicity (flaccidity), involuntary and uncontrolled motions (anhetosis), disequibilibrium (incoordination, ataxia) treambling (tremor) can be observed in various forms either single or some of them together. The brain is an organ of besides the motor functions organises a lot of other functions such as the sense of feeling,hearing, seeing, as well as speaking, learning and memory. There fore, it is possible to abserve besides physical disability, mental retardation, sensory loss, visural and hearing defects, speech disorders and convulsions according to the localisation of the lesion in the brain. It is not possible to restore the lesion in the brain. There is no medicine or operationthat can restore the damage in the brain. There fore preventive rehabilitation are the most current solution for cerebral paralytic children and they should be put in to practive weithout loosing anymore time The aim of rehabilitation is to make the child independent and productive in the shortest possible tme and with the least damage. For this aim, first the existing physical and mental abilities of the child should be evaluated in the best way and according to this evaluation the appropriate physical therapy and training should be provided, so that the will be able to have a profession that will provide him a position in society. The most outstanding characteristics of cerebral paralytic children is that one child is not similar to another. According to the grade and the section of the brain containing the lesion each child is different in terms of motor-mental and emotionalk aspects. This situstion makes it necessary for each child to be treated separately. In our centre the education and therapy of children that have been diagnosed as cerebral palsy by Paediatric Neurologists is perfomed individually by subject specialists fastidiously and in discipline. The preparation and implementation of the therapy, educational and training programs (curriculum) does need considerable experience and knowledge. An improper therapy performed or information not given, may cause gread problems in the further life of the child. Therefore, the cerebral paralytic children's therapy and education shold be directed by specialists equipped with special knowledge and experience. First of all it should be known that myorelaxation drugs, acupuncture, electrical stimulation, bio-energy, orthopaedic surgery that are done when got not necessary, may be more harmful than useful or may couse the delaying of the therapy for cerebral paralytic children. Therefor, doctors and families should be quite careful in choosing the specialists and centres to perform the rehabilitation program. YENİ DOĞUŞ is a centre that has proven it self with its accumulation of knowledge and experience gained in many years in the therapy and education of cerebral paralytic children. Each child after being evaluated via speacial motor-mental and psychological tests performed by physiotherapists and educators attends invidually the pysiotherapy and training/education seances. Physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs are prepared by CP physiotherapists and rehabilitation in accordance with the YENİ DOĞUŞ TECHNIQUES. Having at the same time high qualified experienced educator staff, the curriculum at YENİ DOĞUŞ designed by Paediatric and Education Specialists, Pyschologists, Speech Therapists according to the child's congnitive, speech or psychological defects is performed fastidiously. In our centre we have a staff experienced in this field; our staff consists of 42 CP Physiotherapists, 7 Speech Therapists and Paediatry and Education Specialists, 3 Psychologist, 3 Paediatrician. Also, we are permannently in close contact and continue our studies with Paediatric Neurologists, Physiotherapists, Orthopaedists, Physiatrist Paediatricians, Psychologists, and Paediatric and Education Specialists who justifiably became famus in their own branches in Turkey. In our Center we provide physical, cognitive, speech,
psychological and group eduction activities. There are special rooms and
salons for individual or group activities.Our Center has 2000
m2 usage area, 9 big
working salon, 37 personal education
and group education rooms, playing parks, ball
pools, walking analysis center.
Also there are rest rooms for families, libraries, conference salons and
resaturant. These make YENİ DOĞUŞ
be a perfect rehabilitation center. When necessary, the cerebral paralytic children in the rehabilitation program at our centre have to make exercises with different kinds of equipment and device. Those equipment and devices are special planned and designed for each child requiring a device in his/her therapy. The orthotic rehabilitation centre and equipment workshops producing this equipment are working in this direction and are organized ones. So it is possible to produce and manufacture several new and objective driven equipment. For cerebral paralytic children coming from other cities or countries we have 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month or 2 months packet program practices. These programmes are repeated at certain intervals. For shortterm stays hotel bookings are made, for long term therapies furnished flats are arranged and presented to the use of the children and their families |
